HORSE PLAY

No horsing around, the Equestrian Trend is one of the most important looks this season? Transition your fashion from bright Summery separates to a more warm and cozy style. Horse motifs,  riding pants and tailored wool blazers are key pieces to this look.

Equestrian fashion is at its core a fashion perpetuated by mainstream equestrian culture. This encompasses everything from cowboy-looking apparel to equitation stylings, and every musing in between. Major brands such as Ralph Lauren, Dolce & Gababana and Hermes have become successful marketing the equitation-based styling as ‘equestrian fashion’, leading major magazines such as Elle and Vogue dub to this look as ‘equestrian’.

Hermes is the leader of this trend and has been more many years.  Equestrian patterns are embroidered, referenced and printed on a variety of items by the house of Hermes.  They even have leather, crocodile and lizard riding gear and fashion items for those who need something special.

Try the Equestrian trend this Fall whether your hanging in the stables of Millbrook or the city of Dallas for elegant sporty feel

You may be asking, who is Anotonio Lopez and why haven't I heard of him and his work?

Antonio Lopez was an Illustrator, Visionarie, Muse, Cultural Anthropologist and Style Pioneer.  His work spanned over 30 years and was represented the free spirited 1970"s.

Chances are you have seen his work before, not knowing it was him or seen work that was influenced by him.  Antonio was pioneer in fashion illustration and a creative influence to designers like Karl Lagerfield while his was designing for Chloe and legion of very famous models. Jerry Hall, Pat Cleveland, Grace Jones and Jessica Lang all considered Antonio to be one of their biggest influences and "Fairy Godfather".

Next month you will certainly know Antonio Lopez as Rizzoli publishes “Antonio Lopez: Fashion, Art, Sex & Disco,” a monograph by Mauricio and Roger Padilha. Also next month, the Suzanne Geiss Company gallery in SoHo will open “Antonio Lopez: Antonio’s World".  Suzanne's show will include fashion illustrations alongside Lopez's experimental Instamatic portraits, nightclub drawings, erotic sketches and the 8-millimeter films featuring friends from his inner circle, including the photographer Bill Cunningham, a friend of Lopez and a former studio neighbor at Carnegie Hall.

In addition to the book retrospective and gallery exhibit, MAC cosmetics next campaign will feature makeup thematically inspired by Mr. Lopez’s illustrations and the lovely models that were in his life.

Spotted!

We’ve spotted a new trend for fall. It’s polka dots!

This season’s current must-have exudes an undeniably youthful flair, yet remains an incredibly chic and timeless option for party girls of all ages. Polka dots in every color of the rainbow are fun and fashionable for stylish 20-somethings. Neutral or jewel tones can be perfect for any woman who wants to make a sophisticated statement. If head-to-toe prints are simply out of the question, add a playful punch with a chic bag or shoes.

Dots have reached an all time high with Vuitton's Yayoi Kasumi's dot inspired collection and her retrospective at the Whitney museum.

We hope that you're seeing spots this season as you look in the mirror whether its a head to toe look and an accent piece.

Le Sportif

I feel that it's only fitting to acknowledge the influence of Sport on Fashion as we head toward closing the Summer 2012 London Olympics.

Athletes have some of the best bodies in the world, making them a fashion designers dream to dress these heavenly creatures. Athletics has encouraged fashion designers to focus on functionality and performance, creating the forgiving lycra fabric and the famous body shaping garment SPANX.

Downtown fashion darlings have always been fixated on fusing sport and fashion because of its Urban effortless vibe.  Try a neon anorak over a white mini skirt w/ stiletto's.  Or revamp your sexy LBD with a sporty Isabel Murant High Top Sneaker for a more casual vibe.

Either way, show your sporty style this Summer Season.

BALMAINIA!

Many of you are currently shopping Summer Clearance racks scouring through this season's left over fashion staples. Stop Now and start saving for BALMAIN Resort 2013!

Balmain's Olivier Rousteing created an amazing collection that has an 80's Miami Vice feel mixed with a little Las Vegas swagger.  Don Johnson would feel right at home in the sherbet colored tonal high waisted pleated pant suits. The Balmain key silhouette was the elongated blazer that buttoned well south of the navel and feel to about the hips, worn with loose, pleated, and cuffed trousers.

Rousteing used soft colors like pale yellow, sea foam green and heirloom pink for a feminine touch.  He also showcased many Versace deco references, thoughtfully clashing black and white geometric prints. with stripes and florals.
