TOLEDO & TARGET

A Target store opening in most cities consist of long lines and shopping carts filled with house hold goods or "Designer Edition" clothing. However, Manhattan's first Target opening today in Harlem is sure to have a different vibe given the fashion sector of NYC and Harlem's rich cultural history.

Target's has created the Harlem Designer Collections, a limited-edition line spanning across various categories and reflecting the vibrant spirit of Harlem. The fashion category is led by designer couple Isabel and Ruben Toledo —
Michelle Obama has worn Isabel's pieces — and includes swimwear, t-shirts, beach towels (my favorite and pictured above), and clothing. Target will donate 5 percent of each product's purchase to Isabel and Ruben's nonprofit of choice, El Museo del Barrio.

Fashionista's, art lovers and beach babes get ready to shop fast as these items are limited edition.

For the Love of DASLU!

Think the Department store is Dead. Think Again!

DASLU: Latin America's retail crown, which has been clothing the city's elite since 1958, has garnered even more attention for its recent move to swankier digs. Its new outpost is a custom-built, $50-million Italianate villa designed by architects Ricardo De Marco and Chinho de Luca.

Customer service is legendary: Spiffily attired porters greet you at the door, each customer is assigned a "Dasluzete," or shopgirl, maids in starched white uniforms serve bottomless flutes of Veuve Clicquot or espresso shots, and golf carts transport you across the decadent marble floor to the various in-store boutiques (there are 40 of them, including Louis Vuitton, Prada, and Chanel). Perhaps Daslu's most notable feature is that a good portion of the store is off-limits to men—the bulk of the space is given over to women's clothing, and since there are no dressing rooms, shoppers disrobe next to the racks. A hi-tech department is filled with everything from Bang & Olufsen audio systems to Aston Martin convertibles.

Rub shopping shoulders with: Fashion-world bigwigs, including designers (Valentino, Stefano
Gabbana), photographers (Mario Testino), and models (Gisele Bundchen), plus South American socialites, and loaded, label-hungry Paulistas.

Daslu will definitely be a social fashion explosion during the upcoming Summer Olympics in Brazil.

See it, Love it, Daslu it!

Go NUDE!

Many of us are looking to bare all in the name of staying cool as the summer heats up.

Going Nude or shall I say wearing Nude Colored clothing or makeup is a simple way to stay cool during the summer months.

Here are some tips to remember when going nude in the summer:

1) Wear dark eyes to contrast a nude lip.
2) Wear nude nail polish with all black for an edgy but chic look.
3) Focus on strong shapes and clean lines when choosing nude colored clothing.
4) Wear nude shoes to elongate your legs or to simplify a bright colored outfit.

Stay Stylish!

ART and FASHION

Motion, Graphic and Timeless are words typically used to describe famed photographer Robert Longo. Longo started his career over 40 years ago and some of his most iconic work was created early in his career.

"Men in The City" was a series of photos showing professionals in various degrees on movement all with an edgy conversational quality.

"Men in The City" stylistic direction has influenced Fashion photography and is still relevant today. Look for Longo's work this Fall when his stylish direction is married with BottegaVenetta's first men's only advertising campaign.

Simplicity + Timeless + Stylish = Robert Longo
