Metallic Memories

Memories Memories - Nothing saves those special moment's like the Limited Edition Leather and Alligator Pentax camera.

I recently discovered this amazing peace of art while wrapping up my birthday festivities and prepping for my upcoming vacation because having the proper tool to capture those special moments is equally as important as the memories them self.

The Pentax LX gold was launched on August 1981 to celebrate the production of ten-millionth Pentax SLR camera. It was 18 carat gold plated with brown leather (also-called lizard skin or snake skin) and was equipped with an SMC Pentax f/1.2 50mm lens also with brown leather and gold finish. The Pentax LX Gold package included a wooden box with red lining and white silk gloves to handle the camera without leaving fingerprints on the sensitive gold plating. Both the camera and the case were provided with golden carton boxes sporting 10million logo and 1981 lettering. Only 300 pieces of the LX Gold were manufactured, 200pcs for the Japanese home market and 100pcs for the international market.

Luxury at its Best.

To The Max - The Maxi Skirt

Just when I thought I couldn't’t find another spring trend to love, I rediscovered The Maxi Skirt!

I first discovered this style years ago while researching 60's Gypsy fashion's and instantly fell in love! I did some more research, and found it is a pretty strong trend this season too.

I love fashions that you can dress up or down, and wear in different styles. The maxi skirt trend is perfect for day with a bright tank or button down, in neutral and candy color tones. Similar to the maxi dress trend, you can wear your maxi skirt with flat gladiator sandals or platform wedges. The maxi skirt comes in many different colors, from pastels, to neutrals to fl orals to jewel tones.

Lean to love the long look and its versatility.

Go Tribal - IKAT

Though the tribal print trend seems to be heading out the door, there is something so appropriate about the ikat print specifically that makes me want to wear it in as many ways as possible.

Ikat (pronounced “ee-kat”) is a loom-woven textile created by a remarkable process. A master weaver first ties bundles of warp threads in precise patterns to prepare for colored dyes. A more intricate resist-dyeing technique like tie-dyeing, tied patterns must accurately match the planned fabric design.

Wear the print with solid colors like White or Black for a graphic chic look. Or try to incorporate the fun print it into your house for a world traveller look.

Cobalt Blue

While Summer shopping, I couldn't help but notice the strong presence of cobalt blue in so many designer collections. I happen to love this bold color as it looks great with my skin tone so it naturally caught my eye.

This is a fantastic color for the upcoming warmer months!

Work the electric shade with neutrals like charcoal grey, white and even chocolate brown as styled at Celine. You can even try an accessory as an easy introduction if your not as adventurous or ready to make an apparel commitment.

Either way, work the saturated hue this summer for stand out look.

The Great Bill Cunningham

Cultural Anthropologist, Style Master, Trend Tracker and Legend all describe Bill Cunningham.

Bill Cunningham New York
is a new documentary chronicling the life of the legendary fashion photographer. Bill is most famous for his ongoing New York Times column, "On the Street". Cunningham has been working on the column — a collection of candid photographs of famous and non famous fashion icons which predates any style blog out there — for decades and has captured every trend before it's become mainstream. The Satorialist and other bloggers like myself are all in debt to Bill because he paved the way for us to have platform to express our fashion point of view.

The most interesting fact unearthed in the documentary is that Bill is the complete antithesis of what many think Fashion is about. He's been wearing the same outfit for years, doesn't use a car service, bikes everywhere (snow, sleet or rain), doesn't drink and lives in a very tiny studio apartment with just enough space for his millions of photos that he's saved in multiple file cabinets. However, Bill does hold what Fashion is built on and that's: passion for art, acceptance for all, promotion of individuality and dedication to one's craft.

I highly recommend you see the living legends documentary while he's still alive and then pick up a New Times to watch Bill in action.

The Jumpsuit

The Jumpsuit: Love It or Hate It.....This item is here to stay.

The all-in-one fashion item piqued my interest several seasons ago, but this season there are many variations on the style that keep me wanting more. I love the jumpsuit because it is effortless. Be careful when styling a jumpsuit, you definitely need to have a specific strategy in mind or else you end up looking like you're wearing a shapeless sack. That said, rather than going through the hard work of hashing out an exact plan, instead, just look to a few of my favorite fashionable looks for cues on how to wear this key piece. Whether it's an eye-catching pattern, a luxurious fabric, or a smart accessory to spice up the assemblage, these examples illustrate how to wear the jumpsuit fashionably.
